FAQ

Q

Is the recharge pack suitable for Carver systems ?

A Not only is it suitable – it was designed specifically for the Carver filter whether it is Mark 1 or Mark 2.

Q

Will the pack recharge the square, blue Crystal 3?

A No. The Crystal 3 was a totally sealed cartridge and could not be recharged. It was discontinued after a very brief period in service due to a number of serious problems

Q

Is it true that water filters are just a breeding ground for bacteria?

A No! This is a commonly held misconception. In fact, just the opposite is true. Because Filtapac use only the best quality materials, you can be assured that bacteria trapped in the filter medium will be killed. The reason for this is that our carbon undergoes a treatment known as pyrolisation which ensures that a silver coating is fired on to the carbon granules resulting in a long lasting bacteriocidal action to prevent the growth of bacteria.

Q

Why do I need to change my filter regularly?

A

Two reasons

1 Regular filter changes will ensure that the silver levels are maintained at an effective concentration to avoid any possible build up of bacteria.
2 The carbon will become less effective in its work of combating tastes and smells over a period of time. Regular changes keep your water tasting fresh and sweet.

Q

Why should I use Filtapac rather than the original filter?

A Because Filtapac uses the widely recommended system of bagged carbon which prevents carbon granules escaping into the water system and causing blocked taps and pressure switches and jammed toilet flushing solenoids. No more gritty bits in your water!

Q

Why don’t the original manufacturers use bagged carbon?

A We really don’t know why. They have rejected its use in their own filters but do not offer a reason. We can only assume that it is because the cost of production would be increased and profits would have to be reduced. Filtration is certainly not affected, nor does loose carbon have any advantages.

Q

Why should I use Filtapac recharge kits rather than alternatives?

A

Filtapac is the only recharge system to offer

1 A full size charge of carbon
2 Bagged carbon to avoid escapes
3 A new ‘O’ ring (which is needed every time)
4 Complete, detailed instructions
And all at a competitive price.

Q

Can I buy Filtapacs locally?

A Filtapac makes every effort to ensure there are stockists in all areas. We are constantly looking to increase availability. There is, however, less profit for the retailer on our pack as against the full filter and this can make some accessory shops reluctant to stock them. The answer is in your hands – ask for Filtapac at your local dealer – if there is a demand they will stock them! Alternatively, we are always happy to supply direct.

Q

My caravan does not have a filter fitted – why not?

A

Some manufacturers are under the illusion that today’s caravanners do not want water filters and anyway it’s a way of reducing costs. If they spent time on rallies, abroad and on small farm sites they would realise that filters are both desirable and in many cases essential pieces of equipment. They really should consult with caravanners!
For those of you without a filter, take a look at our Econoflo rechargeable in line filter. Easy to fit and to recharge and lasts a full season of heavy use.

Q

Caravans never used to have filters fitted. Why should they now?

A

Very true! but our water supplies are not what they used to be. The suppliers now have to add powerful chemicals in order to ensure water purity and these can and do impart some very unpleasant tastes and smells to your drinking water, we also have vans with inboard storage tanks which again can affect both smell and taste.

We would never be without our filter – how about you?.
